- Directs forecasting services at weather station, or at radio or television broadcasting facility.
- Broadcasts weather forecast over television or radio.
- Issues hurricane and other severe weather warnings.
- Conducts basic or applied research in meteorology.
- Studies and interprets synoptic reports, maps, photographs, and prognostic charts to predict long and short range weather conditions.
- Operates computer graphic equipment to produce weather reports and maps for analysis, distribution, or use in televised weather broadcast.
- Prepares special forecasts and briefings for air and sea transportation, agriculture, fire prevention, air-pollution control, and school groups.
